About Me

Hi, I’m Matt Lindquist

I work as a custodian at the University of Idaho. It’s not a glorious job, but it forces me to wake before sunrise. One of my favorite moments of each day is looking at the ever-changing sky in the morning. We often talk about the sunrise as though it’s a static moment, but in reality sunrise is a dynamic series of moments, each beautiful and unique.

Watching it for the past 13 years has given me a greater appreciation for the sky itself. Most of our planet is the air above our heads. When you look up long enough you realize it’s never the same. You might see the purple of the sky as night falls, the deep blue of an ocean of air, billowing clouds in all the shapes your mind can conjure, the dour gray of an impending store, or brilliant black lit by stars long distant and dead.

I hope in sharing these photos I can give everyone who views them some sense of these many moments. Eventually I plan to expand the site to include photos of the wilderness and adventure, but at the heart will always be the sky.
